May has been a great month at The Toast. We’ve delivered work we’re really proud of for clients such as Vodacom Group Ltd (HD presentation art for the group’s annual results), the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), Nature’s Health Products, Chartered Wealth Solutions stationery and a fabulous trade campaign for OOH experts MMAP.

We’re also happy to have gained an additional two new client projects. Corporate Image contracted us Toasters to create a 2D isometric design animation for SABMiller in London.  Mezzanine also asked us to create presentation art for them as part of their launch. This brings our current client base to a robust 15.

A busy month meant we’ve made our first quarter budget projections for March to May, in year two, despite the April holiday slump. So, although we’d like to accelerate growth further, our new business is tracking well. This we believe is really good going in the current economy. (The people who claim to know about these things keep telling us so, anyway.) Naturally, as is our culture, we’ll just have to celebrate this little milestone :)

It’s always good to see in practice what you preach. Our MD Louis Eksteen thus reigns as this month’s TTD media celebrity. We are proud to have achieved some earned media for original Twisted Toast brand content by way of fantastic social and organic publicity on The Money Show, Bruce Whitfield’s business show on Talk Radio 702 and 567 Cape Talk, as well as an appearance on CNBC Africa’s Open Exchange television show. Win!

As we approach real winter months, we remain hopeful that more of the pitches we have invested our time and passion into will turn into new business. We will soon be locking ourselves up for a strategy session to plan for the next three quarters. It’s our take on the benefits of a power hibernation.

A new showreel of our work to date and a celebration book about year one at Twisted Toast are also in the works, right after we’ve finished those urgent client jobs…

Happy winter solstice.
