There’s a certain crispness to the breeze lately, isn’t there? A whisper of something shifting, something new unfolding. It’s been a while since we last sent out the Toast Tribune, our little monthly love letter to you all. Life, as it does, got in the way—busy days turned into weeks, then months. But here we are, recommitting to this rhythm, dusting off the typewriter (or, well, the laptop) and pouring fresh energy into sharing our stories with you again.
The world feels heavy with change right now—upheaval on a scale we can all feel, from headlines to heartstrings. It’s got me thinking about the quieter, more personal shifts happening closer to home and how change, even when it stings a little, can bloom into something beautiful.
My son’s packing up his life as I write this, trading the familiar walls of our home for a new adventure in Cape Town. He’s stepping into a career that lights him up and I’m so proud of him. But there’s a bittersweet ache in it too—that empty space at the table, the quieter mornings… Still, I can’t wait to hear all about his new experiences and visit him, of course, to get a more regular dose of vitamin sea and cheer him on from oceanside.
Then there’s my daughter, my fifth-year medical student at Wits. This year, she’s traded lecture halls for hospital wards—fewer textbooks and hypotheticals, more real people, real lives in her hands every day. She comes home exhausted but glowing, her stories spilling over with the kind of purpose that makes a mother’s heart swell. She’s helping people, learning fast and finding her footing in a world that needs her. I couldn’t be prouder.
Here at Twisted Toast Digital, we’re feeling the winds of change too. Some of our long-standing clients—partners who’ve been with us through thick and thin—have moved on to new horizons. It’s a little like watching a friend wave goodbye from a train platform; you’re happy for their journey, but you miss their familiar face. At the same time, new clients are stepping into our world, bringing fresh energy and exciting challenges. It’s taught us something we’ve always known but now feel in our bones: We’re not just in the marketing business. We’re in the partnership business. The magic happens when there’s mutual respect, when we roll up our sleeves together and build something that lifts us all up.
And speaking of rolling up sleeves, we’ve taken a good hard look at ourselves lately. For years, we’ve been preaching the gospel of bold, clever marketing to our clients—helping them shout their stories from the rooftops. But we realised we’d been a bit too quiet about our own. So, we’ve practised what we preach, turned the spotlight on The Toast and went after it with a bit more fire than usual. The result? A slew of recent pitches has us buzzing—everything from big vehicle logistics to motoring and trucking, coffee, fresh produce, healthcare, wildlife and conservation, sport and more. It’s paying off, not just in wins, but in the pleasure of extending ourselves, of proving what we’re capable of when we lean into the change.
Change is messy and hard. It can be exhilarating and terrifying, a dance of letting go and reaching forward. But as I watch my kids carve their paths, as I see our team at Twisted Toast rise to new heights, I’m reminded that it’s also where growth lives. It’s where stories worth telling are born.
So here’s to the shifts—big and small—that shape us. Here’s to new beginnings, to partnerships that matter and to the next edition of Toast Tribune landing in your inbox soon. We’re back and we’ve got plenty more to share.
