Have you noticed that a quarter way through the year, less seems to be more in 2025? (Not always a good thing when it comes to things such as road maintenance, hospital funding and the like – but that’s a topic for another day). Perhaps it’s the Baader-Meinhof effect (also known as the frequency illusion) in full swing, but once I started thinking about dropping the things I don’t need in my life, the universe (and my ever-diminishing closet) began cheering me on.
It started, quite literally, with a haircut. After another round of Covid (how 2020, I know), I decided my long hair and I should part ways for now. Turns out, I’m excited to be styling less and am enjoying more free time. Shorter hair for the win!

A trendy thrift store called Cheshire Trove opened in my neighbourhood recently, benefitting the Ann Harding Cheshire Home for the physically disabled. It feels like the perfect nudge to donate household goods and other stuff that’s just gathering dust in my space. I mean, why hang on to the clutter? My future self – one who doesn’t trip over scatter rugs or walk into coffee tables – seems happy at the prospect of less stuff, more serenity.
In the spirit of less is more, we’ve also found that focusing on fewer, truly aligned clients at Twisted Toast brings us greater satisfaction and better work. We’d rather pour our hearts into those who genuinely see our value and want our expertise. Working with people who appreciate what we do together – that’s the sweet spot. When a pitch request comes along and it’s clear we’re not the chosen ones, we’re more than happy to politely pass. Life’s too short to keep dancing for an empty room!
The highlight of this year so far? Celebrating 14 fantastic years of The Toast. It’s been a wild, crazy ride – one we’re immensely grateful for. And as we move forward, I’m determined to carry less baggage (literally and figuratively).
As Ludwig Mies van der Rohe famously said: “Less is more.” So, what will you cut from your life this year to gain a bit more lightness and a lot more happiness?
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of us and we’re ready to keep raising a toast to new and exciting adventures – minus the noise. Cheers to that!
I wonder, though, if less is really more when it comes to my favourite chocolate Easter eggs…
Happiness always!
